Behind the scenes in the music business 101 - How would you describe Cottondale Swamp?

As Cottondale Swamp gets closer to our Album Release date of November 19th, 2016, we want to make sure we do things right! Damn, we are so excited about this record!!

One of the most important things a band needs to do is to accurately identify their genre and sub-genre. Who do we sound like?

Who does Cottondale Swamp sound like to you? Many bands and artists do not accurately know their genre and sub-genre... "Dude, we sound like The Red Hot Chili Peppers!"! But, everyone else thinks they sound like The Grateful Dead.

How would you describe Cottondale Swamp? The music player at the bottom of the page is playing 3 songs from the upcoming album. Take a listen and let us know who we sound like, or kinda like, or remind you of. We know our sound is unique and super awesome, but how would you describe us to someone who never heard Cottondale Swamp before? Better yet, comment with 3 bands that are kinda sorta like Cottondale Swamp.

Send your responses to info@cottondaleswamp.com or use the comment section on the blog.

Thanks!!

This has a very southern rock feel to it and if you were trying to find a category in todays market I would say it leans toward outlaw country. Absinth Minded has a Georgia Satellites feel to it.

I hear the possible birth of a Swamp Rock style, maybe not unlike Ray Jalbert. That would narrow your target demo to "anybody who likes beer, good music and good company." Seriously good debut, guys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHhRBky-QNE

I think you guys are super good and needed in Florida. The Radiators come to mind and Tony Joe White has been one of my favorite singers for a while too. Anxious to see and hear your music Sunday at the Agriculture show.......
